Happy early holiday bakers! I wanna wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year extra early. During the holiday season, baking delicious desserts is a must. But, today I want to share one of my favorite COLD desserts to enjoy during the holiday season. Whether it's for sitting near a fireplace or wrapped up in cozy blankets, this dessert is something you must try at least once in your life! I present you with the Caramel-Apple Ice Cream !
Ingredients
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 Granny Smith apples—peeled, quartered and very thinly sliced
1 tablespoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup dulce de leche
2 pints vanilla ice cream
Chocolate shavings, for garnish
Crumbled gingersnaps, for garnish
How to Make It
Step 1 Â Â Â
Melt the butter in a medium skillet. Add the apples and cook over moderate heat, stirring, until softened and browned, about 5 minutes. Add the sugar, cinnamon and 1/4 cup of water and cook for 2 minutes longer. Stir in the dulce de leche until melted. Scrape the mixture into a bowl and refrigerate until chilled.
Step 2 Â Â Â
Fold the apple mixture into softened vanilla ice cream and freeze until firm, about 4 hours. Scoop into bowls and garnish with chocolate shavings and crumbled gingersnaps.
